There are many classes out there focusing on Restorative yoga, however not many, if any focusing on the myofascial release:  There are many benefits of restorative yoga, however, we rarely learn about the benefits of a daily and regular fascial release in our practice.

Restorative in my personal practice has been more of an energetic release, calming of the parasympathetic nervous system, and softening of muscular tension. I have been playing with the addition of fascial release as this is a different type of practice that seems to be a flattering partner to restorative.

I chose the shoulder and neck for the focus of this practice, as across the board, I am witnessing shoulder tightness and neck stiffness in my students.  In some cases, students have forward head carriage which further supports their complaint, and is a constant issue for them. The good news is, by and large, the stress and pain can be alleviated with numerous different modalities.
