Teaching yoga is about far more than knowing poses, building sequences, or leading a room.
It means accepting responsibility for the people who trust us to teach them.
In Grounded Honesty, Inlet Yoga owner, teacher, and teacher trainer Jennifer Vafakos explores the conversations around ethics, integrity, responsibility, and teaching that deserve a place alongside the physical practice of yoga.
For our students, our communities, and our profession.
Teaching
Beyond the physical practice.
Taking Yoga Beyond the Mat
At Inlet Yoga, we have always believed that becoming a great yoga teacher requires more than learning how to teach asana.
It requires learning how to lead.
That means understanding the relationship between teacher and student, recognizing professional boundaries, approaching the business of teaching thoughtfully, and making decisions with integrity—even when the right answer isn’t necessarily the easiest one.
These ideas have long been part of Jennifer’s approach to teaching and developing yoga instructors. Grounded Honesty brings that conversation beyond the walls of the studio.
For Teachers, Future Teachers & Anyone Who Leads
You don’t need to own a yoga studio to benefit from thinking more deeply about how you show up for other people.
Grounded Honesty is especially relevant for:
Yoga teachers navigating the responsibilities that come with teaching others
Aspiring teachers beginning to understand the profession beyond the physical practice
Studio owners and wellness professionals building businesses around trust
Teacher-training students exploring ethics and professional development
Experienced teachers continuing to question, learn, and grow
Because good teaching isn’t about having every answer.
It’s about developing the awareness, integrity, and judgment to recognize when the questions matter.
