Allison Kane

ERYT 500, YACEP Yoga Therapist Candidate

Allison has been teaching yoga on the Jersey Shore for over 15 years. She teaches vinyasa, slow flow, restorative, self-myofascial release, chair yoga, and therapeutic yoga. Her goal is to empower students to make decisions that will serve their body on and off their mats, whether that is getting stronger or getting softer.  She is known for teaching with a blend of deep knowledge and light humor that makes her both credible and approachable.

She completed both her 200 and 500-hour teacher trainings at Dig Yoga with Sue Elkind and Naime Jezzeny and then became certified in Tune Up Fitness with Jill Miller.  She also completed a Restorative teacher training with Jillian Pranksy.  All of these trainings prepared her for a focus on anatomy and therapeutics. She is currently a Yoga Therapist Candidate with the Prema Yoga Institute in NYC.

Allison is honored to have led the Anatomy portion of Inlet Yoga’s 200-hour training for the past 3 years.  She is thrilled to now offer these new modules, which delve deeper into topics crucial for yoga instructors today: Anatomy (Basics and Functional), Self-Myofascial Release, and Teaching to Different Body Types.  Allison understands that students want to learn how to keep themselves safe and mobile as they move through life and that they expect their teachers to be able to help them on their journey – and she is excited to now support other teachers on this path.

Trainings with Allison Kane at Inlet Yoga

Allison Kane offers a variety of in-depth, practical, and inspiring modules designed for yoga teachers who wish to deepen their knowledge, refine their teaching skills, and serve a wider range of students. These trainings count toward Inlet Yoga’s 300-hour CYT program and/or can be taken as Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through Yoga Alliance.

Trainings are offered in a mix of weekend and evening sessions, with additional homework (approximately 1–2 hours per week). Sessions may include public teaching opportunities and hands-on practice.

1. Anatomy Basics for Yoga Teachers Oct. 11 and Oct 18

This foundational module reviews key anatomy concepts from the 200-hour training, including major bones, muscles, and joints — how they move, when we use them, and how to design classes with anatomy in mind. Learn to sequence effectively, cue clearly, and offer meaningful modifications that support your students’ bodies and needs.

2. Functional Anatomy for Yoga Teachers January 24 and January 31

Take your anatomy knowledge deeper by exploring how the body functions within yoga postures. This module covers which muscles and joints are loaded in different shapes, the biomechanics of movement, the science of stretching, and how to prepare for peak poses while understanding when and why modifications are necessary.

3. Teaching to Different Body Types February 21 and February 28

This thoughtful and inclusive module helps you create classes and sequences that meet the needs of diverse students — across different life stages, body sizes, health statuses (including pregnancy), and mobility levels. You’ll learn how to adapt poses, use props effectively, and develop ready-to-go sequences that are welcoming and supportive for everyone in the room.

4. Self-Myofascial Release (SMFR) for Yoga Teachers TBD

Discover the importance of the fascial system and its role in movement and yoga practice. This module teaches you how to identify fascial restrictions, address them with a variety of tools and techniques, and weave SMFR into your group or private yoga classes to help students move with more ease and awareness.

5. Teaching for the Doshas TBD

In this unique 10-hour module, you’ll learn how Ayurveda’s three doshas can inform and enrich your teaching. Explore how to sequence and teach with the doshas in mind, designing classes and practices that balance seasonal energies, individual tendencies, and imbalances. You’ll leave with sequences you can use right away, rooted in the wisdom of yoga’s sister science.
